Have you considered adding variety to your current practice and are you curious about working in a prison?
Working as a financial counsellor in a correctional facility setting presents unique challenges from entering the facility, accessible resources, communication challenges and working with a unique cohort.
Participants will hear from accomplished financial counsellors who will share their experiences (including a life in the day), insights, and respond to questions on the panel.
Upon completion of this session participants will be able to:
Safely prepare for entering prison and providing a financial counselling service
Understand unique intersections and vulnerabilities of incarcerated clients and their experience
Appreciate the diversity of needs and disparity of access to support services
Use a comprehensive, trauma informed approach to working with prison clients
Practice self care.
