Radio Lear Sound Assembly - Open the Room
Listen first. Make something. Leave a trace on the radio. A small evening of collective listening, improvisation and experimental radio-making at the Braunstone Gate Arches.
Radio Lear Sound Assembly is a new fortnightly gathering for listening, sound-making, improvisation, performance and experimental radio. We begin with sound, material and attention—not biographies or lengthy explanations.
For our first evening, Open the Room, we will explore the Braunstone Gate Arches through short listening exercises, object sounds, movement, silence and improvised radio sounds and stories. Together, we will build a sonic inventory of the space and create the beginnings of a Radio Lear programme.
You do not need musical training, specialist equipment or a finished idea. You can make sound, listen quietly, bring an object into play or simply see what happens. Contribution is encouraged but never compulsory. Accidents, unfinished experiments and unexpected results are welcome.
The group is deliberately limited to 12 participants so that everyone has room to contribute without being required to perform.
The evening will be selectively recorded for an edited Radio Lear broadcast and podcast. Recording choices will be explained on arrival. You can participate without being interviewed or featured, and an off-mic area will be available.

No musical training required
The event is free to book and there is no payment in advance. Pay-what-you-can donations or contributions are welcome at the event, with £5, £10 and £15 suggested for anyone who wishes to contribute. Donations are entirely optional and do not affect access or participation.
Places are limited, so please release your booking if you can no longer attend. A waiting list will operate when the event is full.
