The Beat x Zurich Film Festival: The Fight for Corso

​What happens when the future of a cinema becomes a fight over culture, power and who gets to decide?

​For a special edition at the Zurich Film Festival, The Beat brings its live journalism format to the NZZ Lounge.

​Through spoken-word narration, recorded voices, sound and music, we reconstruct how the fight over Corso unfolded, from the City’s decision to the resistance that followed.

​At the heart of the story is NZZ journalist Michael von Ledebur, whose reporting helps us unpack the conflict and the bigger question behind it: who gets to decide the future of culture in Zurich?

​After the story, we open the conversation. In groups, we discuss the questions the story raises, before coming back together to share perspectives.
