Meet the Artists
Emilie Yonker is an artist living and working in Wilmington, DE. She is a graduate of the College for Creative Studies where she received her BFA in Fiber and Textiles. Her work is inspired by secondhand materials, and she uses both traditional and experimental techniques to create her work. She is drawn to domestic ephemera, such as doll parts, vintage toys, and doilies.
Kieran Betz currently lives in Wilmington, DE. He graduated from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI, with a BFA in Crafts, emphasis in glass. He is now pursuing a Scientific Glassblowing degree from Salem Community College in Carneys Point, NJ. Kieran’s process centers on found material, blending natural forms with manufactured shapes. Whether working with glass, metal, wood, ceramic, fiber, or minerals, Kieran is most comfortable with a tool in his hand and a fresh project on his mind.
What can I expect from a workshop at RecCreate?
Workshops at RecCreate are like the art school education your parents never let you get, at a tiny fraction of the price led by NYC’s most talented creatives + educators. We make sure you leave with something very special along with the know-how to continue exploring at home. Our emphasis is on education, creative exploration and tool proficiency.
As with all RecCreate events, you can expect to go on this journey with a room full of lovely strangers. We’ll offer opportunities for connection throughout our time— encouraging the spirit of the collective. It is (so) much more fun to get to create together.
