About Event

Spring Fashathon | Hosted by 99 YARDS & Voxxy

Get ready for an electrifying fashion challenge.

Four teams of three designers will compete over 5 days to create a capsule collection from scratch. Each day includes virtual check-ins with industry professionals, where at least one member from each team is required to attend for feedback, mentorship, and guidance.

Teams will be randomly assigned into groups of three, challenging designers to collaborate, adapt, and push creative boundaries.

Each team must create:

  • One womenswear look

  • One menswear look

  • One accessory that ties the full collection together

Kotryna Jukneviciute

She leads the company’s overall vision, blending technology and fashion to spotlight global designers and build community‑driven discovery experiences. She’s often featured in press and social posts presenting Arete’s mission and expansion, including in‑person retail activations in NYC.

Drishti M. Gangwani,

who is cited as the Founder & CEO of Closr. She is presented as the driving force behind the company’s mission to spotlight emerging designers and make cause‑driven fashion accessible through the digital marketplace. Her leadership and perspective have been featured in industry commentary and partnerships, including collaborations with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and curated events like “Couture for a Cause” that blend designer showcases with cultural engagement.

Rick Davy

established the BK Style Foundation in 2004 and subsequently launched Fashion Week Brooklyn in 2006 as its flagship showcase for emerging and established designers.He serves as Creative Director and Producer of FWBK, shaping its mission to provide visibility, opportunity, and community engagement for designers who might not otherwise have access to major industry platforms

Tara Tsui

is a fashion industry leader with over 20 years of experience spanning luxury retail, sustainability, and fashion education. She serves as an adjunct professor at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) and has guided numerous designers and brands on growth, operational strategy, and sustainable innovation. Her approach combines hands-on execution with a deep understanding of both traditional luxury frameworks and modern technological efficiency.

YAY (Yevgeniya A.) Yushkova

is led by “YAY”, an industry expert with extensive experience in fashion design, merchandising, product development, and operations. She has built and sold her own self-funded brand and worked with major companies, giving her hands-on expertise in growing fashion businesses. She helps emerging designers and brands scale from 0 to $1 million in revenue, guiding them through product, operations, and strategy.

Kristine Frailing

is a fashion designer, entrepreneur, and founder of The New York Sewing Center. With experience working for major fashion brands and running her own line, she created the center to make sewing accessible and inspiring for all skill levels. She combines her design expertise with a passion for education and community, including initiatives like producing protective masks during the pandemic.


The 6-Day Challenge Breakdown

Day 1 April 6th – Kickoff Meetup + Fabric Pickup
Designers meet in person, are randomly assigned into teams, receive the challenge brief, and pick up their fabrics.

Fash-A-Thon Opening night

Day 2 April 7th –– Design + Build + Virtual Check-In
Teams begin developing concepts and construction, with a required virtual check-in with an industry professional.

Day 3 - Day 4, April 8/9th –– Construction + Virtual Check-In
Focused build day with continued progress and mentorship.

Day 5 April 10th –– Styling + Creative Direction + Content Capture
Teams refine styling, shoot behind-the-scenes content, and lock in the visual direction of their collection.

Day 6 April 11th –– Final Event
Teams complete their looks, select models, shoot their collections, and present at the final event, where guests vote.


Winner pieces will be featured in the Brooklyn Fashion Week show on the 12th of April

The New York Sewing Center
