About Event

Help us send off Mandy Harris Williams to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in style!

Join us on Thursday, July 30th from 7pm to 9pm for an evening of cocktails, performance, and glamour as we celebrate the European premiere of Mandy's solo performance Critique Cabaret at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August.

Named as part of the Dazed 100, Cultured’s Young Artists List and HuffPost’s Culture Shifters List, Williams is a leading voice on race, identity, and the role big tech plays in our cultural lives. Her new show is part performance, part lecture and part pop spectacle, transforming her viral cultural criticism into a staged cabaret exploring race, representation, beauty politics and digital identity.

Schedule:

7pm - Event begins
8pm - Short preview performance of Critique Cabaret
8:30pm - Cocktails & socializing

If you're unable to attend, please consider making a contribution to bring Critique Cabaret to Edinburgh via this link.

Special thanks to our host Gavin Moseley at The Garret West for welcoming us into their space.

About Critique Cabaret:

Does glamour offer refuge for the beleaguered intellectual, or is it a trojan horse for delivering critical theory?

Critical theory is transformed into cabaret glamour in this Black, queer, feminist reimagining of Cabaret where pop spectacle is the show. Oration, original music, dance and projected video collide in a show about attention, survival and the cost of staying politically coherent in public.

Do you stay or do you leave? Do you fight or do you party? Do you keep performing under power, or step out from under the demand to make sense?

Only Mandy knows.
