TamilHack - PARAI x TILE

​PARAI is collaborating with TILE to bring you TamilHack - an ambitious, AI-powered hackathon dedicated to Tamil language learning.

​Not enough young diaspora Tamils are fluent in their mothertongue. Many understand Tamil at home, but lack the confidence to speak, read or write it on a regular basis.

​There is little to no mainstream support for Tamil language-learning, even in popular apps such as Duolingo. Tamil schools play a significant role for younger generations, but often need to be supplemented with significant additional training for true fluency to be achieved.

​That's why we'll soon be inviting everyone to tackle these longstanding issues through our intense one-day competition. Participants will team up and use AI tools to rapidly build innovative prototypes for Tamil language-learning applications.

​Promising concepts will be rewarded with resources and opportunities to spin them out into real-world apps. All experience levels would be welcome, regardless of coding ability or Tamil fluency.
