All Kinds of Curious Minds: How Mentorship Benefits Kids with Thinking and Learning Differences
Calling all curious minds!
Did you know neurodivergent youth with a positive sense of identity have better self esteem, are more regulated, and struggle less with anxiety and depression?
Kids with thinking and learning differences are barraged with negative messages about themselves nearly every day. From an inadequate K-12 system that doesn’t properly support neurodivergent learners, to a society who doesn’t understand them, ND kids have few nurturing spaces to develop a positive self-identity.
That’s where Curious Cardinals comes in!
Curious Cardinals helps students discover their full potential and explore their passions through near-peer mentorship and interest-based learning. With representation and personalization baked right into our learning model, we are uniquely suited to support and nurture kids and teens with thinking and learning differences such as ADHD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia.
Neurodivergent learners can explore, learn, and grow with neurodivergent mentors, in a truly inclusive and supportive environment with someone who finally “gets” them. They’ll follow a customized curriculum that leans into their special interests, translates their passions into real life skills, and addresses their challenge areas, with support from a world-class education team.
When your neurodivergent student finds camaraderie with a cool, near-in-age mentor who thinks and learns like them, they’ll feel less isolated and more confident to tackle difficult tasks, self-advocate, and try new things. They can see themselves in and be inspired by someone who has been in their shoes and has faced similar challenges, but has developed strategies to maximize their brain’s strengths.
With a Curious Cardinals mentor by their side, your neurodivergent student will discover the power their noggin is packing, and begin developing a much-needed pride in their neurodivergent identity.
