Fireside Chat with Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, Founder of easyJet
We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou (BSc Economics '87) for a fireside chat at the London School of Economics on Tuesday 12 May 2026, 3pm – 4pm, in the Old Theatre.
Sir Stelios created the “easy” family of brands starting with easyJet in 1994 at the age of 27, helping to revolutionise low-cost air travel in Europe. Today easyJet operates more than 354 aircraft and carries around 100 million passengers annually. Through his private investment vehicle easyGroup Ltd, Sir Stelios still owns the "easy" family of brands including easyJet.com, easyHotel.com, easyStorage.com and more than 100 other easy brands, creating for himself a steady recurring income stream from the royalties.
Sir Stelios donates the profits of easyGroup Ltd each year to the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, a UK-registered charity, and will endow the foundation with half his estate so it can continue the giving back in perpetuity. Since 2010, Sir Stelios and easyGroup have donated €122 million to charity.
In recognition of his services to entrepreneurship, he was knighted by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 2006.
This event offers a rare opportunity to hear from one of Europe's most successful entrepreneurs, an LSE alumnus who disrupted an entire industry, built more than 100 brands, and channelled his business success into giving back to society.
The stewards at the event will have a list of the names of all ticket holders. Events are over-ticketed and operate returns queues, so please ensure you arrive in good time and bring photo ID.
