Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: COCOA x NewComma Town Hall
Being a millionaire used to mean something.
In Nigeria, in Ghana, across the continent, a million was the ceiling. The arrival point. The number you wrote into your life plan and trusted to hold. It bought land. It covered school fees without negotiation. It walked into a hospital and walked back out without a problem.
That million is gone.
What replaced it is a moving target. A number that keeps shifting upward as everything around it adjusts faster than ambition can catch up. The creative economy has grown. African talent is more visible, more sought-after, and more commercially relevant than at any point in history. And yet the rewards of that work keep shrinking in real terms, eroded by inflation, currency pressure, and systems that were never designed with us in mind.
So the question isn't just: how do I make more?
It's: what does making it actually mean now, and how do I build something that holds its value when the ground keeps moving?
COCOA and NewComma are bringing together some of the sharpest creative minds working across the continent and diaspora to sit with that question honestly.
