🐶 Join Us for Georgetown Law’s First-Ever Law & Policy Hackathon
A great opportunity to network, have fun, sharpen your skills, and win a cash prize.
📅 March 14, 2026
📍 Paul Hastings Office | Washington, DC
Are you interested in shaping how emerging AI technologies should be regulated? Want to test your privacy and AI law skills in a fast-paced, real-world setting?
The Hackathon is a one-day, in-person policy competition bringing together law students from across the DMV. Instead of building code, you will develop a rigorous legal and policy response to a frontier challenge involving AI.
Our Hackathon challenge focuses on AI-integrated glasses, which dramatically expand the ability to collect, process, and infer data in real time: how should our current privacy and regulatory frameworks evolve in response?
⚖️ What will participants do?
On March 14, after the release of the legal prompt at 9:00 a.m., teams will have seven hours to analyze the issue, develop a concrete reform proposal, and prepare a 10-minute pitch.
During the day, teams will:
• Analyze the legal challenges arising from AI-enabled smart glasses
• Evaluate how current U.S. privacy frameworks address, or fail to address, new technological capacities
• Develop targeted and feasible reform proposals
• Strategically and responsibly use AI tools in research and reasoning
• Deliver a 10-minute policy pitch before an expert jury
Judges will include practitioners, scholars, policymakers, and legal tech experts.
A cash prize of at least $500 will be awarded to the winning team (final amount TBC).
Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
👩⚖️ Who can participate?
• J.D. and LL.M. students currently enrolled at a school in the DMV area
• Teams of 3–5 students
You do not need to register with a pre-formed team. Participants will be grouped automatically by law school on a first-come, first-served basis, with a cap of seven participants per school. If you wish to register as a pre-formed team, please email us directly.
The ideal team brings foundational knowledge of privacy law and AI regulation and a strong interest in policy questions. Expertise can be distributed across team members.
