Beyond The Classroom 03 - Play in Learning
BTC 03 — MU & Body.Scratch present: Play in Learning
For Who?
For PO & VO educators curious about creative yet effective ways of facilitating and teaching STEAM/STEM.
We’ve put together a series of 12 free active conversations and workshops, with local partners to help inspire and empower primary and secondary school educators, with hands-on solutions that respect the body and mental health of students in their 21st century learning journey.
Monthly theme: Play in Learning
How do students really learn? And what keeps them motivated — especially when topics become complex or abstract?
This month, we explore the relationship between play, motivation and learning. Play is a natural way of learning. Through games and interactive experiences, young people learn to experiment and problem-solve. Not just because it’s fun, but because play is structured: with goals, feedback and rewards. What can we take from this and apply in the classroom?
During this session, we will reflect on questions such as:
✅ How do you know when students truly understand what they are learning?
✅ What role can play and games have alongside traditional teaching methods?
✅ How do you keep students engaged in a world full of constant stimulation?
✅ How can play help students to interact with art?
✅ On what terms do we allow games in the classroom?
✅ Which principles support responsible and meaningful learning in primary and secondary education?
