Talk: Hökarängsarkivet with Maryam Fanni & Corina Damian
Hökarängsarkivet - Renegotiating histories of a place with Maryam Fanni & Corina Damian
Hökarängsarkivet is a neighborhood archive founded in the 1980s by local cultural associations and residents in the southern Stockholm suburb of Hökarängen. Housed at the independent art space Konsthall C, it is unique in its kind and collectively managed together with volunteers. Since 2023, a new volunteer group operates and has been shaping the archive’s activities and direction according to their own ideas and interests. This talk shares experiences from the past three years, focusing on how artistic and pedagogical methods have been employed to renegotiate histories and imaginaries of the neighbourhood, while opening the archive up to new perspectives and users.
Maryam Fanni (she/her), designer and PhD in Design, resident in Hökarängen and member of the volunteer group Hökarängsarkivets vänner. In 2023–2024 she directed the archive project "The global in the local" with funding from Riksantikvarieämbetet.
Corina Damian (she/her), human geographer and amateur archivist, resident in Hökarängen and part of the volunteer group Hökarängsarkivets vänner. In 2024 she initiated "Interwoven Roots", a pedagogical project exploring archive material through SFI-education, financed by Alstra Byggforum and Riksantikvarieämbetet.
