Behind the Exhibition: The Vision and Journey of Dr. Elizabeth Way
Dr. Elizabeth Way is Curator of Costume and Accessories at The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her current exhibition, Art X Fashion, is on view now.
Her recent exhibitions include: 🖤 Africa's Fashion Diaspora (2024) 🖤 Food & Fashion (2023) 🖤 Fresh, Fly, and Fabulous: Fifty Years of Hip Hop Style (2023)
She also guest-curated Ann Lowe: American Couturier at Winterthur Museum Garden & Library (2023) and edited the books Black Designers in American Fashion (2021), Ann Lowe: American Couturier (2023), and Africa's Fashion Diaspora (2024).
Dr. Way holds an M.A. in Costume Studies from New York University and a doctorate from Central St. Martins, University of the Arts London.
BGIA "Office Hours" is a virtual space created for conversation, connection, and shared learning — bringing together professionals across archives, curation, research, and related fields to share their work, career paths, and perspectives on engaging with Black cultural memory.
