About Event

On 8 October at 18:00 CEST, I will have the pleasure of moderating a conversation with Dr Gabriella Spinelli, Director of RADIANT-CERSI and Head of Brunel Design School at Brunel University London, on how AI health innovators can move from regulatory compliance towards successful implementation in real-world healthcare.

Gabriella brings more than 20 years of interdisciplinary experience across human factors, user-centred design and innovation in complex socio-technical systems. As Principal Investigator of RADIANT-CERSI, she leads research addressing the regulatory challenges faced by innovators and SMEs developing AI-enabled health technologies and is a member of the MHRA National Commission for the Regulation of AI in Healthcare.

The session, “From Innovation to Regulation: Lessons from RADIANT-CERSI on the Challenges Facing AI Health SMEs,” is part of AI, Society and Systems at the Edge of Change, a webinar series exploring how AI is transforming sectors, systems and institutions, and how we can make use of its potential while developing the governance needed to manage its risks.

We will explore why regulatory compliance alone may not be enough for successful implementation, what evidence AI developers need to generate in real-world healthcare environments, and how approaches such as living labs and regulatory sandboxes can help bridge the gap between innovation, regulation and adoption.
