Freedom’s Framework — Cocktail Reception
Join Young Voices for cocktails, food, and conversation during the 2026 Mont Pelerin Society General Meeting.
Just a short walk from the Westin Indianapolis, we’ll gather at the Indiana Historical Society for an evening reception alongside Freedom’s Framework, a special exhibition marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The exhibition explores how the principles proclaimed in 1776 — liberty, equality, individual rights, and self-government — were carried west and put into practice in the Old Northwest. Its story runs from the American Revolution and Northwest Ordinance through abolitionism, the Underground Railroad, Abraham Lincoln, and the Civil War.
The exhibition will remain open throughout the reception for guests to explore.
At approximately 6:45 PM, Caleb Franz, Program Manager at Young Voices, will give brief remarks of around 15 minutes on the story behind Freedom’s Framework, the importance of the exhibition during America’s 250th anniversary, and why Indianapolis and the history of the Old Northwest provide a particularly fitting setting for the Mont Pelerin Society to gather in this historic year.
Caleb was part of the team that helped develop the exhibition and is also the author of The Conductor: The Story of Rev. John Rankin, Abolitionism’s Essential Founding Father. Rankin was one of the most influential early abolitionists in the Old Northwest, whose writings helped shape the American anti-slavery movement and whose home became an important station on the Underground Railroad.
Copies of The Conductor will also be available for guests during the evening.
Cocktails and food will be served throughout the reception.
