AI Salon BLR x Space Doubt: AI in Space
The Evolving Role of AI in the Future of Space Exploration
[What happens when intelligence leaves Earth with us?]
This salon in partnership with Space Doubt, will explore how AI is transforming astronaut training, mission operations, and the role of humans in spaceflight. The focus will be grounded in current programs like Gaganyan & emerging AI research.
From H.A.L 9000 in 2001: A Space Odyssey to the autonomous systems in The Martian, Interstellar and Project Hail Mary, science fiction has long imagined a future where humans don’t go to space alone.
That future is no longer speculative.
With programs like Gaganyan, humanoid systems like Vyomitra, and rapidly advancing AI copilots, we are entering an era where astronauts are no longer just operators, but supervisors of intelligent systems.
What this salon explores:
We will dive into the real, near-term role of AI in human spaceflight.
How astronauts are trained today, & how AI is reshaping that process
AI as instructor, copilot, crew member, & autonomy layer
The shift from manual execution —> intelligent supervision
What changes when missions move beyond Earth, where latency kills real-time control
Grounded in current ISRO efforts and global research, this is a design discussion about systems being built right now.
Who this is for:
AI & deep-tech founders
Space / Defence / Aerospace professionals
Designers working on XR, interfaces, & human-machine systems
Anyone curious about where AI meets the most extreme human environments
The Ai Salon is a global community founded in San Francisco focused on intimate, small-sized group discussions on the sociological, economic, cultural, and philosophical impacts and meaning of AI developments. We host small group discussions, all of which you can find on our calendar. You can find summaries of our previous conversations on our substack.
