​World AIDS Day 2025 – Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response

​World AIDS Day is observed annually to unite communities worldwide in the fight against HIV, raise awareness, and mobilise action towards ending AIDS by 2030.

​The 2025 theme, “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,” highlights ongoing challenges such as funding gaps and stigma, while showcasing the resilience of communities in responding to HIV. This year, special attention will be given to gender inequalities that increase the vulnerability of Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) to HIV, and the role of the Gender Equality Fund (GEF) in addressing these challenges.

​In recognition of World AIDS Day, GEF grantees, consortium partners, and the country lead will implement advocacy and communication initiatives to amplify the voices, experiences, and priorities of AGYW.

​Objectives:

• ​Increase awareness of gender-related barriers that limit access to HIV prevention, treatment, and care for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).

​Webinar: Gender Inequalities and HIV – Understanding the Barriers to Prevention and Care for AGYW
Join us for a webinar featuring AGYW panellists, led by the GEF Country Lead and GEF Ambassador, in partnership with Y+ Global, TB Women, HER Voice Fund, ANAYD, and GEF grantees. The webinar will bring together leaders, policymakers, youth-led organisations, and development partners to discuss the barriers preventing AGYW from accessing HIV services and explore collaborative solutions.
