Finding Your Path into Climate: AI, Tech, and the Roles You Might Be Missing
Want to work in climate but not sure where you fit? You might be looking in too few places.
Most climate job searches start and stop at climate tech startups. But a lot of the most interesting work happens inside the companies that build and run clean energy: developers, builders, operators, utilities, and manufacturers. They need people who write software, work with data, run operations, manage projects, and solve hard problems in the field. And climate work goes well beyond energy. It happens in every industry, from optimizing delivery routes to cutting waste on the factory floor.
Mike Davey has worked in climate since 2020. He was a founding member of the product team at Raptor Maps, where he became VP Product and led product through two rounds of venture funding. Today he builds AI tools at Cypress Creek Energy, a solar and energy storage company headquartered in Durham.
In this session, you'll:
See where clean energy is growing and where the jobs are, using a real project under construction today
Learn how product, data, software, and operations skills carry over into energy roles
Leave with one search target and one next step
About half the session is open Q&A, so bring your questions.
Who it's for: job seekers, career changers, and anyone curious about a career in clean energy. It's a good warm-up before the afternoon Break into Climate sessions.
