The Weekly Change by We Are Changemakers with Shraddha Shakya on entrepreneurship in Nepal and Bhutan
Shraddha Shakya serves as the Managing Partner of Byapar Briddhi (Briddhi Pvt. Ltd.) leading entrepreneurship development, incubation, and mentor-mentee matchmaking. She has established herself as an entrepreneurship ecosystem enabler who has served in different parts of Nepal and Bhutan. She mainly works with the Government, private industries, and academic institutions for local economic growth, primarily focusing on strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem and mentorship. Additionally, she has supported the Nepal government in drafting policies and procedures related to entrepreneurship.
She brings extensive experience in nurturing ecosystems through incubator design, policy advisory, and capacity-building for governments, associations, and startups, and is deeply involved in Nepal’s entrepreneurial landscape through ecosystem diagnostics, program development, and events like Startup Nation 2030.
Notable highlights include leading multiple mentorship and incubation activities for SMEs and returnee migrants, co-architecting the Koshi Startup Policy and National Business Incubator Operating Procedures, strengthening ecosystems through collaborations with PUM and GIZ, and supporting community and academic incubators in Nepal.
She is also one of the members of the Local and Regional Economic Development (LRED) Expert pool initiated by GIZ/GRAPE. She served as a PUM Senior Experts Local Representative for Nepal.
She holds an MSc in Social Science in Global Studies and International Development Studies from Roskilde University, Denmark. Her efforts have earned her recognition, including the Best Business Idea Award for the Nava Udhyamshala (business incubation program) and a Roskilde University Scholarship Awardee in 2014.
In Briddhi, Shraddha excels in designing and delivering mentorship programmes and mentor matchmaking for SMEs and startups, regularly collaborating with international mentors and experts, and actively seeking to expand participation from senior business leaders and professionals. Her work emphasises scalable mentorship models with hands-on involvement in capacity-building, service delivery, and evidence-based ecosystem strengthening.
