About Event

Show your work. Sharpen your story.

Your portfolio is the one part of a job search where the work speaks for you. It is also the part almost nobody gives you honest feedback on. You send it, you present it, and when it does not land, the reason rarely comes back.

X2Talent and The Consilio are running a free hour on portfolio reviews and presentation. Bring a project, walk us through it the way you would in an interview, and leave knowing what to change.

We help venture-backed startups hire great designers. Both of us were designers first, and we each helped build the design function at Meta. Carl stayed close to the craft. He works with individual contributors every day and has reviewed thousands of portfolios. Jeremy went deep into design leadership over eleven years and has helped hundreds of leaders build and grow their teams.

Between us, we have watched this presentation from both sides of the table: the designer walking through the work, and the leader deciding who to hire.

This is not a screen. There is nothing to buy.

How the hour runs

Advice, 10 minutes. The five must-haves in every portfolio, and the do's and don'ts of presenting them.

Live portfolio reviews, 20 minutes. Three designers walk their work. We react in real time, the way we would if we were on the other side of the hire. Add your portfolio link when you register. We review submissions on Friday and let the three know before the weekend.

Open questions, 20 minutes. Anything you want to ask, including the questions you would not ask a recruiter you were interviewing with.

What we will get into

  • Which three projects to show, and in what order

  • How to frame a decision so a founder follows it

  • What to say about work that was not entirely yours

  • How to talk about AI in your process without sounding like everyone else

  • Why strong portfolios still go quiet, and what to fix before the next one

Bring a portfolio and a real question. Or come and listen.
