Filecoin's 5th Birthday! 🎉💙

​Five years ago, Filecoin launched with a bold mission: to create a decentralized, efficient, and resilient foundation for humanity’s information. Since then, we’ve grown into a thriving global ecosystem that has built the world’s largest decentralized storage network. 

​Now, we’re raising a toast to how far we’ve come together — and to the even bigger possibilities ahead. 

​On October 15, tune in for a special birthday celebration premiere 🎥 joined by community contributors and ecosystem OGs. Featuring a fireside chat with Filecoin inventor Juan Benet, and a preview of something new hitting the network with FilOz CEO Molly Mackinlay. 

​We’re opening a virtual hangout space 🌐for the global community to mark the milestone together. Come connect with friends, swap stories, and chat about the next five years and beyond! We encourage our North America, Europe, and LATAM communities to join us at 11:30 a.m. ET and APAC communities to join at 9 a.m. SGT, but the Kumospace will stay open all day, so you can stop by whenever works best for you.

​And the festivities don’t stop online! We’ll also gather in person 📍with a birthday dinner organized by Protocol Labs in New York City and an Orbit India happy hour. If you want to get together IRL to celebrate Filecoin’s birthday, host your own local gathering, and we’ll help promote it to the global community! 

​Then, we’ll continue the momentum during Virtual FIL Dev Summit on October 16 and 17, with sessions that spotlight the network’s evolution, community stories, and future trajectory.
