About Event

Join fellow Syracuse University alumni on a curated walking cultural experience through the High Line, Chelsea art galleries, and Chelsea Market, led by Alexandra Harper, Founder of Women of Culture.

The afternoon blends contemporary art, public sculpture, architecture, and neighborhood history, ending with an optional social gathering.

The event coincides with the Frieze Art Fair in New York, when galleries across Chelsea are presenting major exhibitions but is only open to 15 attendees — so make sure to get your spot before it sells out!

Details:

Start – Coffee and Meet Up
1:00 PM

‼️ IMPORTANT: UPDATED MEETING LOCATION
Think Coffee | 500 W. 30th Street
Participants may purchase coffee or water and mingle before the walk begins. Beverages are additional cost.

High Line Walk and Public Art
1:30 PM
The group walks a portion of the High Line, including the Plinth and several public art installations. Highlights include the new sculpture by Andrew Nguyen, which replaced the well known pigeon installation earlier in the year. Alexandra will provide context on the High Line’s transformation from industrial rail line to public park and cultural space.

A classic New York black and white cookie tasting is included during the walk.

This portion of the tour lasts approximately 30 minutes.

Chelsea Gallery Visits
2:00 PM
Visit three to four galleries in the Chelsea gallery district, depending on time and exhibition availability. Because the event coincides with the Frieze Art Fair, galleries are expected to have strong programming and exhibitions on view.

Chelsea Market Stop
The group will walk through Chelsea Market, one of New York’s most popular food halls and historic market spaces. Two samples included but any additional food or drink will be additional.

End – Optional Social Gathering
Approximately 4:30 PM
Our tour will conclude near Pier 57, home to the James Beard Foundation’s Market 57 food hall, which has a wide variety of food options if you would like to stay for a snack, early dinner, or continue exploring the neighborhood with fellow alumni.
