About Event
Two great systems talks, then (optional) drinks at Forever Brewing after wards.
Talk 1: José Manuel Calderón Trilla, "STM, Haskell, and lessons in engineering tradeoffs." We will look at the ideas behind STM, its implementation in GHC, and why STM (whether in Haskell or not) should have taken over the world, but did not.
Talk 2: Pratik Agarwal & Kevin Lin (Figma), "Figma's next-generation data caching platform." Scalability and reliability gaps in our Redis platform were a growing threat to Figma's site availability. This is the story of how they built FigCache, a foundational technology that underpins a reimagined internal platform for ephemeral data.
Doors at 6:00, talks start at 6:30 sharp, drinks at Forever Brewing after, out by 8:30.
