Welcome to The Book Circle, a monthly reading club by The Circle for avid readers in Saigon. Each month, we choose one book to read independently, then gather on the last Saturday of the month for reading, a meal, and thoughtful conversation.
This is a place to discover what other people find in the same pages. We’ll share interpretations, questions, and connections to our own experiences, helping each other read more closely and see beyond our first impressions.

Bring your curiosity as we explore the narrator’s contradictions, his desire for connection, and the ways we sometimes get in our own way. You’re welcome to read an English or Vietnamese edition.

10–11 AM · Quiet reading together
Settle in with a book of your choice. Continue your current read, begin something new, or revisit passages from Notes from Underground before our discussion. We’ll enjoy an hour of reading alongside one another.
11 AM–1 PM · Brunch & discussion
Gather over brunch to discuss our October book. Share a passage that stayed with you, something you questioned, or a connection you made while reading. Different interpretations are welcome, and personal sharing is always optional.
Before we finish, we’ll catch up on everyone’s personal reading: recent discoveries, recommendations, and books we can’t stop thinking about. We’ll also invite suggestions for next month’s shared read.
Before You Come
Please read Notes from Underground beforehand. Our discussion will cover the full book and may include spoilers.
Bring your copy, in print or digital format, and a passage or question you’d like to share. You can also bring another book for the quiet reading hour.
There’s no need to prepare a formal review or know anything about literary criticism. Come ready to listen, share, and consider a different perspective.
