Altered States Of America: Poetry, Performance, Music, Calls To Action
Invitation:
As the US empire is in its death throes, the ruling class is accelerating its collapse in an insane attempt to maintain control.
The body of empire now far transcends nations and is taking on new shapes via neofascism, techno-feudalism, and myriad novel enclosures and means of brutality and oppression the world has never seen before.
At the same time, movements for collective liberation are also evolving and transforming: efforts to restore the commons, solidarity/mutual aid networks, capacity building for general strikes and first responder networks to defend communities from ICE.
The world is made of many worlds. As some worlds die, new worlds are being born.
What worlds are you taking part in creating? In destroying?
On July 4 from 5-11:30 PM at Junkyard Social Club in Boulder, Colorado, we invite you to come dance, dream, and play into those questions.
On so-called “Independence Day” we’re gathering to celebrate and reckon with our interdependence.
We’re celebrating the refusal of delusions of supremacy and separation.
We’re celebrating and wondering about the dreams of this land before before the American Dream… before Turtle Island was colonized.
These are dreams that we have the chance to be a part of, if we choose them and let ourselves be claimed by them.

From 5 to 7:45 PM, we’ll have live music, poetry, and performances until we transition the main floor with Alondra Kingman DJ’ing from 8-11 PM. If you’re interested in performing or hosting something center stage or an activation on the periphery, please reach out to [email protected].

People are invited to play with being citizens of Dystopia or Datopia. Maybe you have dual citizenship?
This can be expressed in how you dress, an offering you bring, or whatever creative way you can think of.

Tickets sliding scale starting at $20. After event costs are covered, 10% of proceeds will go to our partner org.
