AI, Work and Human Values: Keeping People at the Centre of Change
On 28 October at 17:15 CET, we will have the pleasure of moderating a conversation with Sarah Mathews, Group Head Responsible AI at The Adecco Group, on how artificial intelligence is transforming the world of work and how organisations can ensure that this transformation remains centred on people.
The session, “AI, Work and Human Values: Keeping People at the Centre of Change,” is part of AI, Society and Systems at the Edge of Change, a webinar series exploring how AI is transforming sectors, systems and institutions, and how we can make use of its potential while developing the governance needed to manage its risks.
We will explore how AI is changing the way people think about work and their careers, what responsible AI looks like when implemented within large organisations, and how AI systems can account for different cultural contexts and values. We will also discuss one of the central questions facing organisations adopting AI at scale: how can greater productivity and technological capability be pursued without losing the human, social and cultural dimensions of work?
The conversation will draw on Sarah’s experience implementing responsible AI across a global organisation, including the development of a Responsible AI Literacy programme reaching more than 44,000 colleagues and her work connecting technical implementation with institutional strategy, ethics and organisational culture.

About Sarah Mathews
Sarah Mathews is Group Head Responsible AI at The Adecco Group, where she leads the global operationalisation of Responsible AI principles through the implementation of ethical AI frameworks and human-centred transformation across 60 countries.
Drawing on more than 13 years of experience, initially in HR and recruitment before moving into strategic AI leadership, Sarah works at the intersection of technical implementation, institutional strategy, organisational culture and responsible innovation.
Her work includes the launch of a Responsible AI Literacy programme for more than 44,000 colleagues and collaborations with UNESCO’s Women4Ethical AI initiative. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in AI Ethics & Society at the University of Cambridge, with a particular focus on navigating complex AI transformations through an ethical and cultural lens
