ROOT with Cooper

​This is an RPGFest event; we'll be playing an in-person tabletop roleplaying game with a small group. The game will be hosted in Hyde Park. Come prepared to roleplay!

In this TTRPG adaptation of Leder Games' ROOT board game, you play the role of a Vagabond, seeking fame and fortune amidst a spreading civil war which threatens to tear the once peaceful Woodland apart.

​In the marshy clearing of Gelilah's Grove, cats of the Marquisate have arrived, promising to restore order and prosperity to the Grove's ailing populace of foxes, mice, and rabbits. The birdfolk of the Eyrie Dynasty, once the rulers of this clearing, can do nothing but watch from their besieged roost as the Marquise de Cat's soldiers assert themselves as the clearing's saviors. Meanwhile, firebrand rebels of the Woodland Alliance seek to organize the locals into an armed resistance, encouraging the citizenry to throw off the yokes of oppressors old and new.

​Enter You: the Vagabonds, a traveling band of roguish outlaws who have come to the Grove to delve its cavernous ruins for lost treasure--and perhaps take advantage of the unique employment opportunities the simmering conflict provides.

​Welcomed by some, scorned by others, the arrival of the vagabonds sets off a series of events that threatens to boil over into all-out war. Will you lend your aid to one of the Woodland's imperious factions? Stand as stalwart peacekeepers and protectors of the meek? Or will you slip away to the next clearing, purses stuffed with newfound riches?

​This is a streamlined narrative system, where actions can be resolved in a single dice roll and your choices steer the story. A slate of premade characters will be provided, based on the nine Vagabond class options from the ROOT board game. No prior experience with the system or the original ROOT board game is required to play.
