About Event

About the session

Across global health, there is growing recognition that strong community health systems are essential to achieving Universal Health Coverage. Yet the question remains: what does it take to build systems that are both locally led and resilient at scale?

This session explores how coalition-driven approaches can strengthen community health systems, drawing on real-world experience from Kenya’s CHU4UHC coalition - a collective of 20+ actors advancing community health systems in partnership with the Ministry of Health.

Designed as a dynamic and interactive conversation, the session will combine frontline perspectives, cross-sector dialogue, and case studies to surface practical lessons in service delivery, coalition building, government ownership, and community-led accountability. Participants will hear how government, civil society, funders, and community health workers have come together to professionalize community health work and strengthen systems from the ground up.

At its core, the session aims to create a shared learning space where participants can exchange perspectives, reflect on what is working, and explore how similar approaches might be adapted across different contexts.

Who this is for

This session is for social innovators, funders, policymakers, and nonprofit leaders interested in scaling impact, strengthening health systems, and advancing community-led approaches.

  • Practical insights from coalition-driven work in Kenya

  • Perspectives from actors working across government, civil society, and community health

  • A clearer understanding of how locally led approaches can strengthen health systems
