About Event

The first Parallax Angels event. Yes, that picture is real and where we will be!

Most angel networks meet at pitch nights. Most founder communities meet at demo days. We think both are backwards — so we're starting somewhere better: a Beaux-Arts temple in the middle of a watershed, built to celebrate the moment water first flowed 160 miles from Hetch Hetchy to the Bay. Parallax Angels is a community of angels and founders built on shared experience instead of transactions. This is event 001. Terrific people, one golden afternoon, no pitches.

The plan:

  • 2:00 — Arrive. Drinks and introductions on the lawn.

  • 2:30 — Why we're doing this. Ten honest minutes from your hosts on why this community exists.

  • 2:45 — Walk the grounds. The colonnade, the reflecting pool, the frieze, and the story of the boldest infrastructure bet in California history.

  • 3:30 — The Problem Drop. Our signature session. Everyone writes one real problem they're sitting with — anonymously, pen and paper. We pull a few and solve them together, matched to the people in the circle who've actually lived that industry. No names, no judgment, real answers.

  • 4:30 — The parallax shot. Our signature group photo. Every Parallax Angels event ends with one; this is the first.

  • 5:00 — Gates close. For those who want to keep going: informal dinner in downtown Redwood City (10 min, separate checks, zero obligation).

Who's invited: Angels (aspiring or experienced), founders (first company or fifth), and operators who are angel- or founder-curious. Whether you've written a hundred checks or none, built three companies or are still working up the nerve — you'll fit.

Cost: Free. Always. Parallax Angels doesn't take sponsors — the community comes first.

What to bring: Sunscreen, layers, comfortable shoes. We'll have chairs, blankets, and drinks covered.

Logistics:

  • Free parking on-site but limited — please carpool if you can, and don't block the entrance gate.

  • Portable restrooms on-site; one drinking fountain.

  • No dogs (watershed rules), and we pack out everything we bring.

  • The grounds close at 5:00 PM sharp.

Your Hosts:

Amit Bagree: 2 decades in Cybersecurity, a decade in public markets, over 5 years Angel investing. LP and Future GP. Founder of RideTheDrop.com.
Na Li: Materials scientist and deep tech entrepreneur, with experience on the venture side of the table as a fellow and resident. She spends her days deep in the weeds as an operator, but she is the happiest out in nature building genuine connections.

A note on photos: Events are photographed, including aerial footage, and selected shots appear on our site and social channels. Want to stay out of identifiable shots? Just tell a host before the photo shoot — honored without question, no explanation needed.

Capacity is limited and registration is approved by the hosts. If you're seeing this without an invite, tell us a line about yourself — we read every request.
