Parallax Angels 001 — An Afternoon in Nature and at the Water Temple

Yes, the photo is real! This is where we’ll gather at the end of the day. But first, we’ll bond over a hike in nature.
Most angel networks meet at pitch nights. Most founder communities meet at demo days. We wanted to begin somewhere else - with curiosity, trust, and the conversations that happen before anyone asks for anything. And somewhere better - A Beaux-Arts temple hidden inside a watershed — built to celebrate one of California’s boldest engineering achievements: bringing water 160 miles from Hetch Hetchy to the Bay Area. Parallax Angels is a community built on shared experience, not transactions. This is event 001. Terrific people, one golden afternoon, no pitches.
The plan:
2:00 — Arrive. Meet at the Edgewood Park main parking area for introductions.
Overflow parking is available near the entrance.
2:15 — Hike. Gather at the Sylvan Trailhead and begin a short loop: Sylvan Trail → Baywood Glen Trail → Franciscan Trail → Edgewood Trail.
3:20 — Reset + Carpool. Bathroom break, then carpool to Pulgas Water Temple 5 mins away. Please use this exact location for navigation to avoid Google Maps routing errors:

3:30 — Explore the Grounds. The colonnade, the reflecting pool, the frieze of the Water Temple.
3:45 — The Problem Drop. Our signature session. Everyone writes one real problem they're sitting with — anonymously, pen and paper. We pull a few and explore them together — matched with people around the circle who have lived through similar challenges. No names or judgment, real answers.
4:30 — The Parallax Shot. Our signature group photo. Every Parallax Angels event ends with one; this is the first.
5:00 — Gates Close. Carpool back to Edgewood Park.
Who's invited: Angels (aspiring or experienced), founders (first company or fifth), and operators who are angel- or founder-curious. Whether you've written a hundred checks or none, built three companies or are still working up the nerve — you'll fit.
Cost: Free. Always. We believe the best communities are built around people, not sponsorships.
What to bring: Sunscreen, layers, and comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for hiking.
Logistics:
Free parking on-site at Edgewood Park. Limited parking at the water temple — please carpool, we'll coordinate.
Edgewood park has restrooms at the trailhead. The water temple has portable restrooms; one drinking fountain.
No dogs (watershed rules), and we pack out everything we bring.
The grounds close at 5:00 PM sharp.

Na Li: Materials scientist and deep tech entrepreneur, with experience on the venture side of the table as a fellow and resident. She spends her days deep in the weeds as an operator, but she is the happiest out in nature building genuine connections.
