βπ FINISH THE SIX-STEP WARM-UP β
βThis hackathon is brought to you by Rote and WeMakeDevs in partnership with DevTools Academy.
βYour agent solves something hard. It works. Then the session ends and the method goes with it. Next week you ask for the same thing and it works the whole problem out again from scratch, slowly, and maybe differently.
βThat's the problem this hackathon exists to kill.
βA live event of builders, one arena, one job: ship a Play that other people actually want to run.
βπ» Prizes
βFirst place: MacBook Pro
βSecond place: iPad
βThird place: iPhone 17
βBest social media posts (make sure to tag Modiqo on LinkedIn or X): Apple Watches
βποΈ Schedule
βNow until 1 September β Finish steps 01β06, run one practice Play, and post βwarmed upβ in Discord.
β1 September, 4pm UK β Kickoff livestream. Remaining prizes announced.
βAll week β Publish as many Plays as you like. Pull other people's Plays and run them.
βAll week β Post about what you're building to be in the running for an Apple Watch.
βSunday 8pm London β Submissions close.
ββWhat a Play is
βThink of the workflow you've done three times this week and resented every time. A Play is that workflow, solved once and kept properly.
βYou create it with rote by working through the job with your agent as normal. rote keeps the procedure that worked so it can be run again with fresh inputs. It's reusable, and it's inspectable, meaning anyone can open it up and see exactly what it does before trusting it with their own work.
βπββοΈ What you do
βπ¨ The full setup guide is here!
βInstall rote and load up your favorite agent harness. Setup guide is linked below.
βPick a job you genuinely repeat. The tedious one, not the impressive one.
βBuild it into a Play by asking your agent to use
play.βPublish it to the shared hackathon space. It goes live to everyone the moment you do.
βRun what everyone else ships and keep the ones that earn a place in your week.
βEveryone creates at least one Play, and every Play is visible to the whole group.
βπ How you win
βThere's no demo deck and no pitch to hide behind. Your Play has to run, and it has to be clear enough that someone who didn't build it can pick it up and trust it.
βJudges are looking at three things: does it actually run, can a stranger understand it, and do people adopt it once it's published.
βThe scoreboard rewards practical magic. The strongest entries are usually small and unglamorous, the shortcut that saves ten minutes, the cleanup nobody wants to do by hand, the status check that takes too many clicks, the routine task that finally stops hurting.
ββ How to make your submission
βPublishing is submitting. When your run is reusable, Play asks where the method should live: Team, Community, or Skip. Choose Community and your Play goes public. That's your entry. There's no separate form, no deck, no upload. Publishing is always your call, and your Play is verified before the victory lap, so what the judges see is what everyone else sees: your Play, running. You are now a Playmaker!
