From Gut Feel to Good Decisions: Equipping Hiring Managers for Fair Hiring
About This Event
An evening with impress.ai and TAFEP on helping hiring managers run fairer, better interviews before the Workplace Fairness Act takes effect at end-2027.
Most hiring decisions are made in the interview room, by people who were never trained to interview.
A sales director fits in a candidate between two calls. A team lead runs a first interview on instinct. One asks "planning to have kids soon?" to break the ice. Another writes "not a culture fit" and moves on.
That's gut feel. It's how most hiring has always worked, and from end-2027 it carries real risk. The Workplace Fairness Act covers every hiring decision at Singapore companies with 25 or more employees, every interview included. If a rejected candidate challenges a decision, your answer is whatever the interviewer wrote down.
James Pang from TAFEP will walk through what training hiring managers for the Act looks like. Then VT, impress.ai's co-founder, runs the same interview twice, live, to show how Savos InterviewMate gives every hiring manager the structure to make good decisions and a record that holds up.
We'll close with the Savos Customer Awards, then drinks, dinner and networking.
Who should come
HR heads, TA leaders and hiring managers.

Speakers
James Pang
Industry Lead, TAFEP
James works with employers on fair and progressive employment practices at the Tripartite Alliance for Fair & Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP). He spoke on navigating workplace fairness at HR Tech Asia 2026.
Dr. Vaisagh Viswanathan (VT)
Co-Founder & CEO, impress.ai
VT started impress.ai after years of studying how intelligent systems make decisions, and seeing how often hiring decisions fail the people they're meant to serve. After a PhD in AI Agents at NTU Singapore, he chose the real messiness of hiring over a lab. Today impress.ai works with large enterprises and public-sector organisations including DBS, OCBC, IMDA and MINDEF.
His work sits at the intersection of employability, trust and responsible AI in hiring, driven by one question: can AI make hiring fairer, more understandable and less arbitrary?
About Savos
Savos is impress.ai's AI-native hiring platform. It plugs into your existing ATS and hiring stack, or runs as the system of record itself. It captures what hiring managers actually need, screens every CV against that brief, talks to every candidate to fill the gaps a CV leaves, and keeps one record of the whole hiring process.
Used by DBS, OCBC, SingTel, NUS, MINDEF and half of Singapore's public sector agencies. ISO and SOC 2 certified, and audited by an IMDA-appointed firm on AI compliance for ethical hiring.
