Flow Dance #8 - Returning to the Roots
Flow Dance #8 - Returning to the Roots
Autumn asks us to slow down. The days grow shorter, the veil between worlds feels thinner, and we find ourselves a little closer to memory, to the people who came before us, to the land herself. This gathering is a chance to get grounded and return to our roots: with herbs, tinctures, an earth altar, music, gong sounds, community. We'll stomp our feet on the ground, come together in ritual and ask some simple questions together: what are we carrying that we don't need anymore? What do we want to bring with us into what's next?
For our last dance of the year, we are partnering with Neukölln City Sounds, a new event series bringing together communities from across Berlin creating new connections grounded in music, neighbouring and solidarity. The series shines a light on the artists, communities and cultural formats already shaping the city. The collaboration with Flow Dance brings dance, music and a collective experience of movement into the series which is kindly funded by Music Board Berlin and means we are able to offer free entry on this occasion.
However if you’re able and would like to contribute, donations are warmly welcomed. These will partially help to subsidise future FLOW Dance activities as well as Women* for Gaza’s (women.for.gaza) campaign raising funds to revive Gaza’s farmland and to support grassroots organisations helping families plant seeds and restore life from the ground up. Revive Gaza's Farmland APN (Arab Group for the Protection of Nature -apnorg) is a women-led Palestinian organisation working for over two decades to protect land, farmers, and food sovereignty across the region. Important to know!
Flow Dance strives to bring the political into the personal: we are a team of facilitators and activists, weaving together spiritual practices, community, and collective liberation. You can expect a space where privilege is named, power is shared, and bodies are given the space to (hopefully) feel some sense of liberation.
No dance or singing experience is required, only a commitment to go with your own flow.
Guidelines: no shoes, no photos, no talking on the dance floor, no alcohol or substances, and respect others and their boundaries. We have space to move, a cosy corner to lie down and stretch, a garden to feel the fresh air and many cosy spots upstairs.
Please be aware that there might be some nudity during the event. We welcome all expressions from the bodies of free women.
Please note we will not tolerate racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism or prejudices based on ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender & gender presentation, ability, class, asylum status.
