Comfortable with Discomfort: A Gallery and Gathering
The Creative Pact invites you to: Comfortable with Discomfort, a gallery and gathering filled with art, karaoke, conversation prompts, and more.
This fun DIY art show and party will feature nine unique artworks.
On February 21st at 7pm, come participate in building a community that values freedom in creative expression and whose guiding principle is: everyone is creative.
What is the Creative Pact?
We are a community of artists committed to showing up regularly and imperfectly for our creative practice, using structured accountability to transform seeds of ideas into completed projects.
Comfortable with Discomfort features works by The Creative Pact's second cohort. Our very first art show & party happened last summer. You can see photos from that event here.
The projects in this gallery vary widely, including painting, writing, video, comedy, and collage.
What happens at Creative Pact sessions?
We work through four phases of the creative act as detailed in Rick Rubin's The Creative Act : A Way of Being (Seeds, Experimentation, Crafting, Completion) over a two-month cycle
We shift focus from outcome to process, embracing creative freedom and showing up imperfectly
We celebrate completed work through a collective exhibition that marks the end of a cohort/cycle
What to expect at this event
If you're someone who loves art that is different (vulnerable/offensive/shocking) and likes to venture out of your comfort zone, then this event is for you.
This will be our second DIY art gallery. The theme this season is Comfortable with Discomfort.
The theme was not planned out, but rather emerged naturally as a common thread between the projects.
