GreenShift Summit: Rethinking Tomorrow 26'
Egypt is no longer short of promising green businesses. What remains far less common are those that successfully make the transition to scale. The GreenShift Summit brings together investors, industry leaders, development partners, policymakers and entrepreneurs around one practical question: what does it take for a promising green business to become a strong, scalable company — and what happens when those companies begin to change the industries around them?
We approach that question through experience rather than theory. Through the GreenShift Programme, we worked alongside 12 green scaleups, gaining a close view of what enabled their growth, where they encountered barriers, and what investors and buyers needed to see before saying yes. The Summit follows that same journey: from building a stronger business, to creating the conditions for scale, to seeing how new products and business models can begin to reshape established industries.
BUILD THE BUSINESS → ENABLE THE SCALE → CHANGE THE INDUSTRY
The first half looks at the company and the ecosystem around it. WILL YOU INVEST? asks what commercial capital needs to see before it backs a green business. READY TO SCALE. NOW WHAT? then turns the question around: what does the business need from the wider ecosystem - finance, markets, regulation, technology, productive capacity, talent and business capabilities - to actually grow?
The second half moves from the company to the industry. Through construction and agriculture, the Summit looks at businesses introducing products that challenge materials and inputs we have used for decades. BUILD DIFFERENT. asks whether new materials can become mainstream construction products. WHAT WILL WE FARM WITH NEXT? asks whether a new generation of agricultural inputs can change how the sector produces.
The result is not a showcase of “green startups,” but a conversation about what Egypt’s next generation of green businesses can build, what they need in order to scale, and how they can become part of the future of established industries.
