Walk + Talk with BATS!
Meet us at 6:30pm at Chicano Park for a relaxed sunset walk + talk with Austin Bat Refuge. We will have a quick bite to eat + chat, then head on to the Congress Avenue Bridge. The route is beginner-friendly: mostly flat and paved. We will get a chance to learn ALL ABOUT Austin’s Bats. Come prepared with a bottle of water. (for walking!)
We will be staying until they fly out for the night, but folks are welcome to head back at any time. We will walk back together as a group, as well.
This is a great opportunity to connect with others who care about local wildlife, the food system, or just want to learn something new and participate in something classically Austin. All are welcome, but for the safety of the bats, we ask that everyone leave their animal friends at home.
Parking Advice: There is limited street parking near Chicano Park – we like parking at Festival Beach and walking over. There is usually plenty of street parking near Fiesta Gardens.
This event is organized by Planted Society's Austin Chapter - our mission is to foster community around our shared love of the environment. We highlight climate-friendly eating and environmental action with free events and activations designed to educate and inspire.
