Homo Gaia: Rejoining Earth's Community Where We Belong - Book Talk and Nature Walk
Book launch activities for “Homo Gaia: Rejoining earth’s community where we belong”, and English version of a Thai book with same title, written by Saranarat Oy Kanjanavanit, a lifelong environmentalist and citizen-scientist, who wishes to pass on a “thin strand of hope to the generation after me”. This book shows how others can also experience and connect with the wondrous world that surrounds us, she weaves in her own experiences with information and insights from scientists. At a time when our planet is threatened from many perils – whether global heating, plastics or biodiversity loss – Homo Gaia is a tribute to the non-human beauty that exists all around us. It provides a way of being in and learning from nature which will inspire us to love and protect our natural world. The activity consists of two parts, with a conversation between the author and Oraya Sutabutr, co-founder of Big Trees Project. Followed by a nature exploration walk led by Poramin Watnakornbancha, director of Green World Foundation to connect with nature in the surrounding area. The activity will mainly be in English.
กิจกรรมเปิดตัวหนังสือ “Homo Gaia: Rejoining Earth’s Community Where We Belong” ฉบับภาษาอังกฤษที่เขียนโดย สรณรัชฎ์ กาญจนะวณิชย์ (อ้อย) นักสิ่งแวดล้อมและนักวิทยาศาสตร์พลเมืองผู้ทุ่มเทตลอดชีวิต ด้วยความตั้งใจที่จะส่งต่อ "เส้นใยแห่งความหวังที่บางเบาให้กับคนรุ่นหลัง" หนังสือเล่มนี้เผยให้เห็นว่าผู้อื่นก็สามารถสัมผัสความอัศจรรย์ของโลกธรรมชาติรอบตัวได้เช่นกัน โดยผู้เขียนถ่ายทอดประสบการณ์ของตนควบคู่ไปกับข้อมูลและข้อคิดเห็นจากนักวิทยาศาสตร์ ในยุคที่โลกของเรากำลังเผชิญกับภัยคุกคามหลากหลาย ไม่ว่าจะเป็นภาวะโลกร้อน ขยะพลาสติก หรือการสูญเสียความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ Homo Gaia คือบทสรรเสริญต่อความงามอันไม่ใช่มนุษย์ที่อยู่รอบตัวเรา เป็นแนวทางหนึ่งในการใช้ชีวิตอยู่ร่วมและเรียนรู้จากธรรมชาติ ที่จะช่วยจุดประกายให้เรารัก สัมพันธ์และปกป้องโลกนี้ กิจกรรมแบ่งออกเป็น 2 ส่วน ได้แก่การสนทนาระหว่างผู้เขียนกับอรยา สูตะบุตร บุตร ผู้ร่วมก่อตั้งโครงการ Big Trees ตามด้วยกิจกรรมเดินสำรวจธรรมชาติในพื้นที่ ซึ่งนำโดยบปรมินทร์ วัฒน์นครบัญชา ผู้อำนวยการมูลนิธิโลกสีเขียว เพื่อสัมผัสและเรียนรู้จากธรรมชาติ กิจกรรมส่วนใหญ่ดำเนินเป็นภาษาอังกฤษ
