Compute! Karlsruhe #1
Compute! is a community for open-source software in machine learning, AI, data, and scientific computing. It brings together maintainers, researchers, engineers, and practitioners who build, use, and depend on open tools in both academia and industry. Compute! Karlsruhe is the Karlsruhe chapter of the Compute! community and meets once a quarter after work.

Teaching a Small Model a Big Job
What does it take to turn a general-purpose language model into a specialist agent that can reliably operate enterprise systems instead of merely talking about it? We use warehouse short-order management to follow the full journey from synthetic data generation and SFT to reinforcement learning with GRPO and rigorous evaluation. Along the way, we’ll look at gyms, verifiable rewards, and LLM-based judging, and show how they turn “good agent behavior” into something we can train and measure. This talk shares the practical lessons from putting these pieces together into a repeatable model-training factory.
Securing The Autopilot
How does AI impact IT security in our applications? We’ll look at risks introduced by AI, how to recognise them, and what we can do to secure our applications.
Lightning Talks
Lightning talks are spontaneous. Are you working on an exciting project, have you discovered a new tool, or are you bringing an insight from research, teaching, or industry? Then just sign up on site. We welcome topics from scientific computing, data analytics, data visualization, data engineering, machine learning, and related fields. Product pitches are not part of it.
Who is it for?
Compute! is not tied to any programming language. Whether Python, R, Julia, Rust, or C++, whether Jupyter or RStudio, everyone is welcome. No matter if you’re a maintainer, a researcher, a developer, or just getting started.
Many thanks to Blue Yonder for their support! <3
