About the workshop
As UXers and UX adjacent folks, we want to make sure that our products and services offer an enjoyable user experience to everyone, including people with disabilities. And we know that conducting user research is often the most effective way to discover usability and accessibility issues.
Running research with people with disabilities requires specific knowledge and skills. User researchers need to carefully plan sessions so they are inclusive for all participants. Researchers also need to adjust moderation styles and techniques, and ensure they use inclusive language.
If you are new to, or have recently started, conducting user research with disabled participants, this workshop is for you! In a fun and interactive session, we’ll look at some strategies to make research sessions more inclusive.

About Ela
Ela is a Principal Accessibility Specialist at TetraLogical. She specialises in sustainable accessibility and inclusive user research.
Ela started her career in accessibility consultancy in 2008 and has since helped small and large companies, as well as public organisations, achieve their accessibility goals. Ela was part of the accessibility team in Barclays, playing an important role in integrating accessibility into governance processes and producing accessibility guidelines and standards.
Alongside consultancy, Ela has a deep knowledge of inclusive user research practices and extensive experience training. She has contributed to the W3C Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines as a tester, has participated in the Scope Big Hack advisory board, and is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Let's Talk UX Brighton community.
