Fireside Chat: Ocean Stewardship & Robotics

​An evening with Will O’Brien, co-founder of Ulysses, on underwater robots, seagrass restoration, and bringing life back to the ocean.

​In a warehouse in SoMa, Ulysses builds robots that work underwater. Their flagship vehicle, Mako, dives thousands of feet to map the seafloor and plant seagrass — a plant that shelters young fish, stores carbon far more efficiently than rainforest per acre, and keeps coastal ecosystems healthy. What began as a scrappy seagrass-planting robot has grown into restoration work with partners like the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.

​Join us for a special evening with Will O'Brien, co-founder of Ulysses, in conversation with Cameron Wiese of World's Fair Co. We'll talk about what it takes to build robots for one of the most hostile environments on Earth, why seagrass matters so much to the ocean, and how better tools can help restore the parts of our world that are hardest for humans to reach.
