June — Community and Collective Identity
Saturday Scribe is a weekly creative writing gathering for people who want dedicated time to write, sharpen their craft, and move their work forward in community. Writers of all levels and genres are welcome—film, poetry, prose, theater, and hybrid work.
In June, we focus on community and collective identity. Stories rarely happen in isolation. They unfold in churches and coffee shops, neighborhoods and family reunions, classrooms and front porches. They are shaped by the people who gather, the traditions they inherit, and the futures they imagine together.
Throughout the month, we'll explore belonging, community, inheritance, and collective responsibility through scene-based prompts designed for writers of film, fiction, poetry, theater, and beyond.
This month's prompts include:
• The Gathering Place
• The Newcomer
• The Future We Built (Juneteenth Week)
• The Work We Carry Together
This month, we are excited to gather at Heirloom, a space that shares our belief that meaningful things are built through intentional gathering. We're grateful to call it home for the month and look forward to spending time in a place designed for connection, conversation, and community.
