Philosophy at the Museum: Chinese Art
A quiet stroll across a narrow bridge;
majestic peaks rising in layered mist;
pines and cypresses drifting among clouds;
calligraphy that soars like a dragon in flight,
then lands like a dragonfly skimming water.
Yet within all this freedom,
there is a distinctly East Asian sensibility of restraint —
an inner world of endurance, subtlety, and self-mastery.
After sauntering through the art of the West for so long,
this time we journey to the other side of the world,
diving into East Asian philosophy through masterpieces from China
The program will include three 30-minute conversations, with participants divided into groups of 3–4 for each session. Through structured prompts and brief introductions before each conversation, participants will be invited to engage with the artworks through philosophical reflection and personal interpretation.
