About Event

Join us for an evening with two celebrated memoirists as they discuss the craft, vulnerability, and payoff of writing about family, identity, and the immigrant experience. Moderated by author Jennilee Austria-Bonifacio.

Wiley Wei-Chiun Ho is the author of The Astronaut Children of Dunbar Street (Douglas & McIntyre), a darkly funny memoir about the secret lives of "astronaut children" — unsupervised Taiwanese immigrant kids growing up across Canada. Eight years in the making, it's spent the past two months in the BC Bestseller List's Top Five.

Rachel Phan is the bestselling author of Restaurant Kid: A Memoir of Family and Belonging, a national bestseller longlisted for Canada Reads 2026 and named one of CBC Books' Best Books of 2025. Her writing on identity, assimilation, and belonging has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, CBC, and more.

Jennilee Austria-Bonifacio, author of Reuniting With Strangers, moderates.

🎟️ Free to attend.

Presented in partnership with Douglas & McIntyre, The Writers' Union of Canada, and the Canada Council for the Arts.
