About Event

For our October call, we're checking back in with the world of solar cattle to see what progress has been made with cattle on solar arrays and to hear about new technologies in the field.

During the call, we'll hear from Josh Bennett of H2 Enterprises and Huwa Enterprises on their work to integrate cattle on utility-scale solar sites. Josh will discuss their lessons learned and their model for adapting solar projects to accommodate cattle grazing in the array.

Jess and Marcus Gray from Gray's Lambscaping will also discuss their efforts to develop a cattlevoltaics program and integrate cattle with sheep on solar. Expect to hear how Josh and the Grays are tackling the issues around selecting cattle breeds, vegetation management best practices, and site design.

We'll also check in on some of the exciting new tracker designs coming out with James McKinion from Helical Solar, who has piloted their tracker on a cattle feedlot inside the pen. James will discuss their elevated, dual-axis array designed to allow for cattle and row crops at scale without altering agricultural methods or equipment and with energy densities that match utility-scale solar developments. He'll talk about their in-pen cattlevoltaics feedlot installation, which uses the dual-axis array, providing shade for cattle, reducing heat stress and improving animal health.
