New AI transparency rules: what HR needs to know before 10 December
Did you know new automated decision-making transparency rules begin on 10 December 2026? Where an organisation covered by the Australian Privacy Principles uses personal information in a computer program to make or substantially inform a decision that could significantly affect someone’s rights or interests, its privacy policy may need to explain the kinds of decisions made and personal information used. www.oaic.gov.au
Join us to work out what to check in your organisation before the changes begin. You’ll leave with practical questions for reviewing how AI is used in people decisions, where your policies may need attention, and when a manager should pause and involve HR or legal support.
Kim Burns, co-founder of Humaneer, and Rushantha Jayaweera, Director and Principal Employment Lawyer at Strategic Workplace Partners, will use examples from recruitment, performance reviews and everyday manager decisions to explore:
When AI use in a people decision may raise transparency questions
What to review in your privacy and AI policies
Workplace surveillance and employment law risks to consider
How to give managers useful support while keeping appropriate human review and escalation
Kim will also show a short Mak example of practical, policy-grounded manager support.
Who should attend: HR, People and Culture, workplace relations and operations leaders who are shaping their organisation’s approach to AI at work.
Speakers: Kim Burns, co-founder of Humaneer and Mak; and Rushantha Jayaweera, Director and Principal Employment Lawyer at Strategic Workplace Partners.

Send us your questions when you register. We'll bring some of the tricky ones into the conversation, including those people are often too polite to ask.
Because Humaneer doesn't exist to give HR more to consume. We create better things to participate in.
