The Writing Classroom in the AI Era: How it's Assessed, How it's Disclosed, and How to Improve

​In the last few years many tools have quickly emerged that can successfully complete many traditional assessments and this has radically disrupted the traditional writing classroom.

​In this talk, Assistant Teaching Professor and Learning/AI Strategist Chris Ostro will detail the ways he has leveraged various tools, along with building a classroom culture around AI Literacy and transparency, to help safeguard integrity in his course, but more importantly to get us all past the “cops and robbers” phase and back to the student/teacher dynamic.

​About Speaker

​Christopher Ostro is an Assistant Teaching Professor for the Division of Continuing Education at the University of Colorado, Boulder, as well as a 50% course designer with the Learning Design Group at CU; in this role he designs talks and trainings for faculty that are informed by recent, relevant in-the-classroom experience.

​His research interests include AI in the classroom, AI Detection, the impact of COVID-19 on higher-ed students, and political radicalization.
