Quick Note: This program is for current Scrub Collaborative members. If you're interested in attending as a guest, please complete the registration questions to be considered.

Through Scrub Spotlight, we're excited to take you behind the scenes with Scrub Capital’s portfolio founders.

Sam Schwager, CEO of SuperDial, joins the Scrub Collaborative to unpack healthcare’s automated arms race in a conversation moderated by Scrub Capital Co-Founder Jon Slotkin.

Payers are using AI to review and deny. Providers are using AI to chase and appeal. Sam's bet is that the endgame is an agent at the provider talking directly to an agent at the payer. If he's right, healthcare administration is about to change in ways most of us haven't thought through deeply enough.

In this session, we'll explore:

  • Why the phone survived decades of digitization—and what that says about where healthcare's real friction lives

  • What happens to the system when the cost of chasing a claim drops close to zero

  • Whether AI makes healthcare administration cheaper or just makes the fight between payers and providers faster

  • Whether one company can earn the trust of both sides of the same argument

  • What happens to the people whose job today is sitting on hold with insurers

  • What health system leaders and founders get wrong when they buy or build AI agents

Sam’s view on where healthcare payment infrastructure is headed comes from building through the exact pain point SuperDial now solves.

After Stanford and McKinsey, Sam and his co-founder Harrison Caruthers started a billing company for behavioral health practices. The business lived or died on calls to insurers: hours on hold, endless phone trees, and the same conversation dozens of times a day. So they built an AI agent to make the calls. That agent became SuperDial.

Today, SuperDial's voice agents make those calls on behalf of billing teams, RCM companies, and provider groups. The company has handled more than a million calls and raised a Series A led by SignalFire.

Like all Scrub sessions, there will be ample time for your questions. If you would like to invite a colleague from your network, please let us know.

This session will be recorded for internal use only. Please do not bring AI assistants, notetakers, or co-pilots into the meeting.
