🌱💌✨Susty (Sustainable) Social: Postcards for Change
Have you been wanting to take action toward a more sustainable, regenerative, and connected world, but aren’t sure where to start? Join us at Bang Brewing for an easy, welcoming evening of creative activism. Together, we’ll explore environmental and social actions we can take as individuals - starting with something as simple as a postcard.
You don’t need to be an artist or an experienced advocate to join in. Even a small act, like writing to a local business or encouraging a neighbor, can share an idea, start a conversation, and invite change. We’ll have postcards, supplies, and ideas to help you get started.
Come for a drink, stay to write, and connect with others who care. Drop in anytime and stay as long as you like.
🎨 A little art, a little advocacy
At our previous Postcards for Change workshop, Lauren from Hearseed Creative helped us turn our ideas of care into artwork. Together, we created postcard designs advocating for things like accessible healthcare, farmers’ rights, protection for the Boundary Waters, more pollinator gardens, and less food waste.
Now, we’re putting those postcards to use and you’re invited to help.
Write to a neighbor encouraging them to plant a pollinator garden, ask your favorite coffee shop to move away from Styrofoam packaging, or urge your mayor to protect local land. We’ll have postcard artwork reflecting a range of environmental and social causes. Pick one that speaks to you and add your message.
A postcard doesn’t have to say everything or solve a whole problem. It’s one way to let someone know what matters to you and encourage a specific action. These small gestures are opportunities to practice care for our communities and the world around us.
Once you’ve finished writing, we’ll take care of the postage and mailing.
🌻 Create with care
Our postcard artwork began with natural watercolors made from turmeric, red cabbage, and red beet. The designs were then scanned and printed by Boneshaker Books using their risograph printer—carrying that spirit of care from the first brushstroke to the finished postcard.
After writing your message, you’ll also have a chance to play with natural watercolors and create a design of your own!
💫 Imagine, connect, and take action
Created in collaboration with Charly Frisk, this gathering invites us to turn our imagination and ideas into action for climate and social wellbeing. It’s a chance to learn together, connect over what matters to us, and take one small, meaningful step toward the world we want to help create.
This event is supported by Gifting Grove, a nonprofit creating tangible opportunities to participate in a gift economy where living inherently becomes more regenerative, joyful, and rooted in connection. Through gatherings like this, we practice gratitude for what’s around us and turn that gratitude into care and reciprocity.
What could our world look like if we measured value not by what we consume, but by what we give and share?
