In-Space Physical AI Workshop (ISPAI 27)

The In-Space Physical AI Workshop (ISPAI 27) convenes February 17–18, 2027 at The Ion in Houston, TX, bringing together the companies shipping space systems, the labs inventing what's next, and the agencies defining the mission. Organized jointly by Rice University, Purdue University, Vanderbilt University, and NASA, ISPAI is built as a hybrid of an industry event and an academic conference — not a trade show — focused on advancing physical AI for space applications.

The two-day program is structured around four core themes: realizing interconnected lunar infrastructure, autonomy, robotics, and onboard AI, navigation, tracking, and space situational awareness, and defending the homeland. Each day opens with a keynote and runs panel discussions across these topics, giving attendees two passes at the same set of hard problems from different angles. Day one also features Startup Lightning Pitches for early-stage founders working in the space-AI space, followed by an evening reception, and the workshop closes on day two with a synthesis session pulling the two days of discussion together.

ISPAI is aimed at industry professionals, academic researchers, government agency leaders, and early-stage entrepreneurs working at the intersection of AI and space systems. Attendance is open, with separate calls to action for requesting an invite, applying to pitch as a startup, or becoming a sponsor.
